Getting To Know Lexi

Lexi is settling in wonderfully and her improvement every day is obvious. She’s sweet, smart, playful, and a wonderful companion – we all love her to death! There are a couple of things we need to work on: barking, playing too roughly, jumping up on the beds, and wandering across the road (we don’t leave her loose in the yard unsupervised yet but have let her off the leash to chase balls). But she is very smart and I have no doubt that she’ll catch on pretty quick what she can and can’t get away with.

Cinnamon is getting used to her, and she to him, but he still hisses and growls at her and she still wants to play a bit too roughly for his liking. I haven’t had her around the horses much, but they find her quite intriguing and she’s a bit nervous around them. They seem to get along just fine.

There are a few things she gets quite scared around, and the fur on her back will stand up, but once she opens up and gets closer and realizes they aren’t scary, she calms down quickly. She’s been great around all the dogs we’ve met.

We’ve taken her to the beach a couple of times and to a pond and had her swimming – she loves it! She’s a great swimmer and she really enjoys swimming out to catch sticks and bringing them back to us. She also loves chasing the frisbee and balls around the backyard. She’s learning that we aren’t interested in playing tug of war, so she’ll put the toy down and wait for it to be thrown instead of fighting us for it. She has a nice high jump while she’s waiting for you to throw it though; I’d love to make some jumps in the backyard and try her jumping over them.

Here are some photos from the last couple of weeks of my pretty girl. :)
